About Me

Hello, My name is Catherine Msengezi

I am a newly qualified nurse and currently work as a cardiology nurse. I started Nursingjourneyguide.com because I wanted to share my nursing journey and what I have learned along the way with other people pursuing nursing as a career.

During my studies, I have always wanted to learn from others who have walked the same journey as me.

Studying nursing and being a nurse can be challenging and requires support from others who have walked the same path.

So I invite you to walk with me in your nursing journey and I guarantee you that I will share tips and advice that I have learned along my nursing journey.

I am indebted to my Husband Davison who is one of my biggest supporters. He is always cheering me on and is always helping me with the technical aspects of running Nursingjourneyguide.com.

Things I love

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music and playing tennis with my children. I also enjoy gardening I find it therapeutic to grow and nurture plants and vegetables.

I love exploring things in nature this can be going for a walk or just noticing birds singing.

My Nursing Journey

Growing up I can recall my father commenting that I would be an excellent nurse one day, I do not know what he saw in me then. Nursing was far from my dreams. Little did I know that one day I would actually consider nursing as a career.

I started working in healthcare in my twenties as a healthcare assistant and I loved it. After working as a healthcare assistant for a while I decided to do NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care for Adults for career progression.

I was promoted to become a senior healthcare assistant. Working with nurses and seeing the difference they were making in people’s lives inspired me to become a nurse.

I decided to do an access course in order to meet the university entry requirements as I did not have any A levels. On finishing my access course I was able to secure a place at the University of Nottingham. Whilst studying for my nursing degree I participate in other extra curriculum activities such as being

  • Student Journal Editor
  • Student Journal Writer
  • Student Ambassador

I hope to share my experiences in my nursing by writing an article on this blog. So join me on this exciting journey.
